February 16, 2004—Steelcase Inc., recently announced that 12 of its seating product lines were awarded GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification, the only testing program for low-emitting products. To receive certification, the products were tested according to GREENGUARD’s rigorous standards for low-emitting products.
Among the Steelcase seating lines to receive certification are Leap, Criterion, Cachet, Sensor, Drive, Parade, Rally, Protege, Ally, Player, Snodgrass, Trilogy, Gentry, Turnstone Springboard, Max Stacker, and Max Stacker II. These products will be monitored by GREENGUARD on a quarterly basis to ensure that they retain the low emitting status.
Over a decade ago, Steelcase was one of the first two companies to pioneer testing for emissions with Air Quality Sciences, Inc., the originator of the GREENGUARD program. Between 1998 and 1999, 27 Steelcase products met the GREENGUARD emissions criteria.
The GREENGUARD Certification Program helps builders, architects, interior designers, specifying professionals, and consumers create better indoor environments by identifying low emitting products and providing a free online guide to tested products.
