Super Vision wins contract to light up Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center

January 30, 2006—Super Vision International, Inc., a leading manufacturer of fiber optic and LED lighting systems, has announced that more than one mile of its SideGlow fiber optic lighting cable and 75 illuminators are now being used to light the exterior building perimeter of the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in Tampa, Florida as a part of the first phase of the artwork “MARQUEE.”

The City of Tampa, in partnership with The National Endowment for the Arts and The Friends of Public Art, developed a public-private initiative called “Light On Tampa” to light up the downtown area with some of the most innovative light-based artwork in the nation through leading contemporary artists.

Tobey Archer, of south Florida, an artist well respected for her work with light, including ambient, architectural, fiber optics and neon, often combined with other materials, was awarded the initial contract for the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center after winning a design competition over several other nationally acclaimed artists.
