Survey on Class Action Against PFRI Manufacturers

A class action has been filed on behalf of building owners across the nation against the manufacturers of Phenolic Foam Roof Insulation (PFRI). PFRI, installed in buildings between 1981 and 1992, was supposed to have a higher “R value” (insulation effectiveness) than conventional material, but it may cause the corrosion of roof systems upon exposure to moisture.

BOMA is gathering information to decide whether to support this action, and is conducting an on-line survey at www.boma.org/Forms/pfri_survey.htm. All responses will remain confidential, and will be analyzed as a group to ascertain the extent of concern.
