SustainLane Government names top 5 “cleantech” cities

April 2, 2007—SustainLane Government, an online resource that offers sustainability tips to state and local government, has ranked the five US cities that it says excel in research and development and real-world opportunities in the field of clean technology.

SustainLane looked at the “cleantech” areas of energy generation, management, and efficiency, including renewable energy; transportation technologies and biofuels; green building, materials, and engineering; and water- and air-related technologies.

SustainLane’s top-five ranked cleantech cities in the US are: 1) Austin, TX; 2) San Jose, CA; 3) Berkeley, CA; 4) Pasadena, CA; and 5) Greater Boston, MA. Runners-up cities include San Francisco, CA; New York, NY; Seattle, WA; San Diego, CA; and Houston, TX.
