May 14, 2008—SynapSense has released a real-time imaging application designed to drive data center efficiency by allowing operators to continuously monitor and respond to actual conditions in the data center. The company says the SynapSoft 4.0 solution offers unparalleled levels of visibility and iterative management capabilities for aligning data center operations, energy efficiency, and capacity planning.
The SynapSense solution incorporates LiveImaging to provide real-time data center environmental data and images including thermal, humidity, and pressure differential mapping. This allows customers to, for example, literally see hot spots and overcooled zones where cooling inefficiencies are occurring and to re-direct airflow to optimize operations, says the company.
Additionally, SynapSense uses the solution to compile complete assessments of data center operations for customers, providing them with a baseline of information that can be analyzed to fine-tune cooling and information technology (IT) loads moving forward. It reportedly enables operators to drive energy-efficiency improvements through optimized sub-plenum air pressures, improved airflows, and data-driven capacity planning.
The solution also features 24-hour monitoring, a global operations view, and a sophisticated alert and alarm system, notifying data center operators when conditions are deteriorating and adjustments can be made.
