Teknion captures five awards in IDEX/NeoCon Canada furniture design competition

October 17, 2007—Teknion Corporation has announced that it won a total of five awards in the annual IIDEX/NeoCon Canada Innovation Awards competition. Winners were recognized at the ARIDO (Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario) Awards of Excellence and the IIDEX/NeoCon Canada Innovation Awards event held in Toronto in September 2007.

The three new award-winning products were District, Marketplace and Fitz. Designed by Teknion’s in- house team, District is a collection of cabinets, desks, walls and windows that reinterprets systems furniture and accommodates emerging workstyles.

Marketplace reinvents the worktable, achieving spans up to 20 feet to foster creativity and collaboration. District and Marketplace were winners in the Furniture Systems category.

Fitz is a comprehensive, fully featured task chair—the closest “one size fits all” office task chair on the market today, says Teknion. By taking the most demanding dimensional requirements of North American, European, and Japanese ergonomic guidelines, and translating these into the most extended range of adjustment features available anywhere, Fitz addresses a greater office employee population than most other task seating products. Fitz won in the Desk/Workstation Chairs category.

Teknion’s new Vertical Textile Collection from Valdese Weavers and Milliken earned a Bronze in the Textiles category. These new 100 percent recycled polyester textiles are sophisticated and affordable designs influenced by apparel and residential trends. They provide new scale and white options, redefining systems furniture fabrics.

IIDEX/NeoCon Canada is the country’s largest exposition and conference for the design, construction and management of interior environments. It ran from September 27-28 at The Direct Energy Centre in Toronto.
