October 23, 2006 —Teknion Corporation won two Gold and two Silver awards in the annual IIDEX/NeoCon Canada Innovation competition. Teknion’s focus at the 2006 exposition and conference was on the environment and education.
Teknion received a Gold for its 2,240-sq.ft. booth in the category of booths of 500-sq.ft. and larger. Each of the booth’s 55 columns included a statement describing Teknion’s day-to-day sustainability initiatives and topped with a tree.
A second booth set up as a classroom for ongoing mini-seminars and demonstrating Teknion’s leadership role as a sustainable educator won a Silver in the 200-400-sq.ft. category. Both booths were created by Vanderbyl Design.
Teknion also received a Gold for its Sustainable Upholstery Collection in the Textiles category. Nine new 100 percent recycled polyester seating textiles and three 100 percent wool patterns address a broad range of styling areas. The PLA collection, derived from corn, is applicable across all Teknion seating products, meets and exceeds ACT (Association for Contract Textiles) upholstery specifications, and is aggressively positioned in affordable grades with standard lead times, according to Teknion.
Teknion chose IIDEX/NeoCon Canada to show its seamless glass wall system, which won Silver in the Building/Architectural Products category. The seamless glass wall defines the boundary of the classroom space used for educational training seminars.
