Teknion facility achieves ISO 14001 certification

January 14, 2004—Teknion LLC has announced that its U.S. headquarters facility has been awarded ISO 14001 certification from the International Organization for Standardization, a program directing standards in more than 100 countries. ISO 14001 is an Environmental Management System (EMS) standard.

Designed for businesses, large or small, EMS manages an organization’s environmental aspects and the impacts of its operations, while the organization works towards continuous improvement. Certification, a lengthy multi-step process, is obtained through audits performed by third-party independent companies trained and licensed to perform audits specific to ISO 14001.

In keeping with Teknion’s overall Sustainability Program, this ISO standard ensures that the company commits to protecting the natural environment by conserving resources. This can be achieved by managing and tracking energy consumption; reducing, reusing and recycling waste; and by assuring that there is complete employee engagement in every aspect of the ISO standard.

President and CEO of Teknion LLC, Stephen Miner, stated, “As a natural follow-up to our recent GREENGUARD commitment ensuring our products have been certified for low emissions, our commitment to the ISO 14001 standards is a vehicle with which we can engage all our employees. Every employee will be prepared to prioritize our goals for environmental improvement on our journey to sustainability.”
