August 9, 2004—Teknion announced August 3 that it has become the first office furniture manufacturer to receive GREENGUARD Certification for an all-wood casegoods line. Korato, Galatina, Modena, Volterra, Umbria and Philadelphia—six major wood casegoods lines with related conference tables—are GREENGUARD Certified when specified with an exclusive GREENGUARD finish and materials package. This package includes special low-emitting clear finishes and a bio-based alternative to particleboard.
Teknion has strategically aligned its product portfolio and information systems support to the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating and certification program to help clients successfully attain LEED certification for their green built environments.
The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute is an independent, non-profit organization that oversees the GREENGUARD Certification Program, the only independent testing program for low-emitting products. GREENGUARD Certified or tested furniture and furnishings are part of the United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) LEED for Commercial Interiors Program. Access to the GREENGUARD Product Guide is provided free of charge.
