October 31, 2008— Teknion Corporation has received a Platinum award the highest honor in the annual Ontario Waste Minimization Awards sponsored by the Recycling Council of Ontario. Teknion earned Platinum in the Business category the same category in which it won Gold in the 2007 awards.
“As one of our few Platinum winners, Teknion demonstrates that protecting the environment is integral to good business practices,” says Jo-Anne St. Godard, Executive Director of the Recycling Council of Ontario. “Teknion has adopted sustainable practices throughout the organization and has translated that into taking action in all aspects of their business. Clearly they understand the economic values of environmental protection and resource conservation.”
Since winning the Gold Ontario Waste Minimization Award 12 months ago, Teknion has continued to improve its environmental impacts within its core environmental programs. It introduced refurbishment programs that extend product life cycles, and introduced three major major product lines using DfE (Design for the Environment) guidelines which, through the design process, maximize material utilization, among other things.
