December 17, 2007—Teknion Corporation’s District furniture collection was honored in three international design competitions in three cities within the span of three nights, the company has announced. The District collection combines elements of classic furniture with the functionality of systems.

On November 29 at the New York Times’ TimeCenter in New York, District won a Best of Year Award in Interior Design’s annual BoY competition, in the category Furniture: Contract/Systems.

On the same evening at a Design Exchange Awards Dinner in Toronto, District earned Silver in the annual Design Exchange Awards competition, which judges designers’ work on commercial effectiveness. District won in the Industrial Design category.

At the FX International Interior Design Awards ceremony, on the evening of November 27 in London, District placed second. In the Workspace Systems Furniture category, District received a Highly Commended rating.

District represents Teknion’s latest design direction in open plan furniture and is a practical and good-looking alternative to more traditional systems furniture, according to Teknion. It combines elements of classic furniture with the functionality of systems, and makes efficient use of today’s smaller office footprints.
