Teknion’s new US HQ slated for April 2001 opening

Teknion, Inc.’s new headquarters facility, which has been under construction for several months, will officially open for business in April 2001. Designed by the Washington, DC office of Gensler, the 90,000-sq.ft. 4-story facility will house all of Teknion’s U.S. operations staff, as well as its senior management team. In addition, the building will have an extensive product showroom and visitor center.

Located in Mt. Laurel, NJ, the structure will provide an exciting contrast to its natural surroundings, and the interior will serve as a platform to showcase all of Teknion’s products. A significant design detail in the new structure is a two-story, building-length vertical light scrim that bisects the third and fourth floors with a column of natural light. Gensler design director Jeff Barber describes the feature as critical to illustrating Teknion’s focus on the workplace of the future, adding that the light aperture not only brings in light but also reflects it differently over the course of the day.
