Teleworkers in UK Increase by 19% Over Last Year

Figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) show that the number of teleworkers in the UK has increased by 19% over last year. The report also indicated that 41% of today’s UK workers would like to spend 50% of their working time in a virtual office, rather than in their companies’ offices. There is an apparent conflict in what companies think about teleworkers compared to what the teleworkers think. Companies indicate that they are managing their teleworkers (82% of employees) well, yet only 54% of teleworkers think that their companies are managing them well. These remote workers would like to see better home working environments, more equipment, more communication with colleagues, and better support from the office.

Construction Executives Anticipate Higher Prices
The upcoming three months will probably see higher prices in the U.S. construction industry, say the industry’s executives, according to a Construction Survey by Dun & Bradstreet. At the same time, growth in order books and employment is expected to soften.

Dr. Iris Geisler, an economist with Dun & Bradstreet, said, “The survey results suggest that the construction industry remains on a moderate growth path, despite predictions from some observers that the industry may be in for a significant slowdown.” For further details about please see http://community.bricsnet.com/aecinform/v3i9s1.phtml.
