TEMPbadges temporary identification badges expire automatically

March 7, 2003—TEMPbadge has introduced a temporary identification badge that expires automatically to prevent unauthorized reuse. The visual alert eliminates the need to color code, read dates, or worry about uncollected badges.

The TIMEbadge changes color automatically—going from white to pink/red over a specified time period. Activation begins when the self-adhesive front part is applied to a back part, pre-printed with “migrating ink”. Once these two parts are combined, the migrating ink slowly bleeds through the white front part and becomes visible. The back can be either an adhesive label or a card stock clip-on CARDbadge. Expiration times can be programmed in increments of one day, one week, one month or even 2-3 hours. Once the front part of the badge is applied to the back part, expiration begins and cannot be reversed.

TIMEbadges stay white for a specific time interval, and then gradually begin to turn red. Expiration time is unaffected by light but can be affected by variations in temperature. TIMEbadges are designed to expire within a specified time when worn close to the body at normal indoor room temperatures (about 70 F; 21 C). If worn in a significantly warmer environment, a TIMEbadge will expire more quickly.
