May 5, 2026 — Design Days Chicago, officially Fulton Market Design Days, is set for June 8–10, 2026, with some preview events beginning on Sunday, June 7. The historic warehouses of the West Loop have been transformed into a hub of immersive design across the neighborhood.
The 2026 event is centered on the theme “Where Design Connects,” a collaborative focus shared with NeoCon at The Mart. Key industry shifts being addressed include:
- The AI Integration: Showrooms will feature how artificial intelligence is being used not just in furniture design, but in “intelligent office” systems that adjust lighting and acoustics based on real-time occupancy.
- Adaptive and Multi-Generational Spaces: A major push toward furniture and layouts that serve four generations in one workplace.
- The “Human Touch” in Industry: Several exhibits (notably at MillerKnoll) are highlighting the craftsmanship and technical skill behind mass-produced industrial design.
The dominant contract brands are Allsteel; Allseating; Carolina, an OFS company; Global; Gunlocke; HermanMiller; HON; Interface; J&J Flooring; KI; Knoll; Kimball; Mohawk Group; OFS; Steelcase; Tarkett; Teknion and more. Click for the full list of Design Days brands.
Getting there from The Mart
To address past complaints about travel times, the 2026 organizers have increased the frequency of free shuttle buses running between NeoCon, the original and longest-running commercial design show in its 56th year at The Merchandise Mart, and the Fulton Market District.
Look for the Design Days signature pink branding and banners that designate the official Design Days route throughout Fulton Market. Most showrooms are open to design professionals (architects, interior designers, facility managers, etc.). Fulton Market and Morgan Street are the central hub, marked by the pink banners and the Design Days Welcome Center, where attendees can pick up maps and wristbands, and access free trolleys to The Mart.
While Fulton Market is more open than NeoCon, registration is required for shuttle access, showroom parties, and official event materials like tote bags and maps. Early registration is recommended to secure spots at exclusive after-parties.
