February 27, 2006—The Metal Initiative (TMI) recently became the newest Supporting Partner of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International. TMI, a coalition of manufacturers and associations formed to educate owners, architects, and contractors about metal roof and wall systems used in commercial construction, pledged $10,000 to support BOMA’s programs in advocacy, education, research, and membership. This is the first time BOMA International and The Metal Initiative have joined forces.
“I’m confident that our alliance will provide both organizations’ members the opportunity to share and exchange information, and in doing so, better understand the challenges, opportunities, and benefits that our respective industries provide,” says BOMA International Chairman and Chief Elected Officer David W. Hewett, RPA, CPM, CCIM, FMA, CFM, principal for Trammel Crow Company, Auburn Hills, Michigan.
He adds: “The Initiative’s focus on meeting the needs of building owners and developers—with attention to return on investment, maintenance, and life-cycle costs, environmental impact, and recyclability—demonstrates that they are concerned with the same issues as our members are . . . but from a different and equally important perspective. It’s the kind of synergy that our partnerships promote, and we look forward to working with—and learning from—The Metal Initiative.”
BOMA’s partnership program allows companies to invest in their own success and viability, as well as that of the industry, according to the organization that was founded in 1907. With three levels of participation (Cornerstone Partner, $50,000; Leadership Circle, $25,000; and Supporting Partner, $10,000), the program has benefited industry organizations that offer a wide range of services to commercial real estate professionals.
