December 12, 2007—Trane recently announced its participation in the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Climate Leaders program, pledging to reduce company-wide greenhouse gas emissions. Climate Leaders is an EPA industry-government partnership that works with companies to develop comprehensive climate change strategies.
In joining the Climate Leaders program, Trane says it is broadening its already strong commitment to facilitate lower energy consumption by its customers. The company was reportedly one of the first four energy services companies asked to participate in the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI), a program launched by former President Bill Clinton to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in 40 of the world’s largest cities.
Trane also reports that the Trane CenTraVac is the most energy-efficient chilled water system in the world for large buildings and has earned the company the “Best of the Best” Award from the EPA. In addition, many Trane residential products carry the EPA’s “Energy Star” designation, and the company reportedly markets the industry’s most energy-efficient residential furnace.
