July 19, 2002—TXU Energy has launched TXU Energy Sentinel, a suite of 26 energy management services for large commercial and industrial customers. The suite includes energy information, supply-side, demand-side, and asset management services. Customers may purchase any number of these services and receive 24/7 access to their information through a secure portal. Two of the services, load profiling and analytic engine, provide the necessary tools for interval data analysis in order to identify savings opportunities—anywhere from changing energy usage behavior to justifying facility enhancements with demand-side projects. The customer decides who performs the analysis. With an expert staff to support each solution, TXU Energy performs at any level across the energy value chain.
One example is Village Creek, a wastewater facility in Fort Worth Texas, where TXU’s asset management services enable it to monitor turbines from its remote control center. TXU Energy guarantees that the turbines will operate 96 percent of the time, and if excess power is generated, it will be sold and Fort Worth will share in the profits.
