February 4, 2002—Tyco Electronics has announced its connectivity management system that provides facilities and IT managers with an up-to-date audit and inventory of their premises cabling infrastructure for new and existing networks. By fully documenting the end-to-end inventory of a network’s cabling infrastructure and associated equipment, the cable management system simplifies the planning, design, and implementation of new networks while minimizing the cost and downtime of ongoing moves, adds, and changes (MACs) for existing networks.
Enterprises can utilize the connectivity management system in its “database-only” mode for inventory tracking or through its integration with the most current version of AutoDesk’s AutoCAD program to create visual representations of their network topologies. This integration makes it simple to combine the cable management systems’ graphical information with existing renderings from external facilities management and MIS departments. The system supports Windows 9x, NT, and 2000, and offers a Microsoft Internet Explorer-style interface for ease of use.
