February 2, 2005—The U.S. Navy will be the first to take delivery of the new generation VM2IQ VendingMiser energy management units, reports USA Technologies.
Nearly 700 new VM2IQs will be shipped to the U.S. Navy to reduce the energy consumed in vending machines located on naval bases nationwide.
The VM2IQ is designed to be installed inside existing vending machines, and is capable of reducing energy consumed by about one-third, saving about $100 per vending machine per year. The first 1,000 units are scheduled to come off the USA Technologies production line in the next few weeks.
“We chose the new generation VM2IQ because it is a good alternative to the VendingMiser for high traffic locations. And it too will drive immediate energy savings,” said Mike Paolantonio, Manager, NEXCOM Service Operations.
The VM2IQ comes with additional features, including technology that allows advertising, lights and controller functions to remain on while the machine is in energy saving mode. When the cooling system is powered down, the VM2IQ monitors the room’s temperature and automatically re-powers the cooling system every hour or two to ensure beverages stay cold.
