Boldly Building Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. Live in the NeoCon Presentation Studio on June 9 at 9:00 am CDT.

Opening July 4, 2026, Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library sets a bold new standard for sustainable design. In this session, JLG Architects — the project’s Architect of Record — leads an immersive exploration of the “Living Library,” revealing innovative strategies that position TRPL as a model for regenerative design. The project is pursuing Living Building Challenge, LEED Platinum and SITES Platinum certifications.
Presenters will share the Library’s evolution from the 2020 design competition through the LBC performance period, highlighting how the design responds to the Badlands landscape and local ecosystems. Attendees will learn how the owner’s sustainability initiatives spurred innovations such as healthy materials, low-carbon concrete, rammed earth walls, mass timber, and salvaged wood furnishings. The team will also demonstrate how this ecology-rooted Library integrates digitally immersive storytelling that inspires change and honors Roosevelt’s conservation legacy. Presented by the JLG Architects team.
Registration is open for the Virtual CEUs, and content for them becomes available on June 7, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. EDT and will be available on-demand through December 31. Advance registration is required.NeoCon offers more than 60 AIA- and IDCEC-approved CEU sessions, featuring 150+ thought leaders and industry experts across a wide range of timely topics. Here are Virtual CEU sessions of interest to Government facility managers and designers:
Modeling Future Efficiency, Ensuring Informed Decisions
Increasing operational efficiency and spatial utilization while ensuring the workplace meets the diverse needs of your organization’s workforce can be achieved with the right planning process. The Office of Domestic Operations and Emergency Services (A/DOES) in the Bureau of Administration, responsible for the U.S. Department of State’s domestic nationwide portfolios on all things operational — enterprise services, emergency management, and real property — completed a forward-thinking, comprehensive study to investigate approximately 1.3M SF of occupied space across several buildings on an urban campus wherein multiple planning scenarios model future efficiencies that prioritize people, function, flexibility, optimization and worker well-being. Through this project as a reference point, session participants gain actionable insights to strategically plan for evolving workplace demands, appropriately size real estate footprints, and provide modern, functional work environments. This session will showcase the strategies and outcomes from the investigation, outlining the process and providing participants with the tools to plan, budget and implement successful workplace transformations. The speakers are Jason deChambeau, IIDA, Director of Interiors, KCCT, and government representatives from the Office of Domestic Operations and Emergency Services, Bureau of Administration and U.S. Department of State.
Architecture as a Catalyst for Community Wellness
This presentation highlights the Humboldt Park Health Wellness District Master Plan in Chicago, a visionary initiative transforming community wellness through architecture, urban design, and leadership. Juan Moreno, AIA, founding principal of JGMA, and Jose R. Sanchez, CEO of Humboldt Park Health, will discuss how design and institutional vision catalyze neighborhood revitalization; preventive health; and social, economic and environmental well-being. Attendees will explore strategies for the 24-block district surrounding Humboldt Park Health Hospital, including site programming, land use, phased development, and public spaces that promote wellness and engagement. Participants will learn to align architecture with public health goals, plan phased developments, and create spaces that foster interaction, activity, and long-term impact. Attendees will gain practical strategies to design environments that support holistic community health, equity, and generational transformation.
Unlocking Hidden Value in Commercial Furniture Reuse and Tax
In today’s corporate landscape, decommissioning an office space is traditionally viewed as a “cleanup liability” — a costly, logistics-heavy burden that inevitably ends in the landfill. However, for CFOs, Boards of Directors, and sustainability leaders, this “old model” represents a significant loss of both capital and ESG potential. This presentation introduces a revolutionary CPA- and engineer-led approach to asset disposition. By shifting the focus from simple hauling to a sophisticated financial and environmental recovery operation, the partnership of Green Mission ESG Solutions, United Asset Management and Carbon Wise transforms decommissioned furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) into high-value enterprise assets. Furniture Status: It’s Complicated. A Planning Masterclass
Furniture has a funny way of showing up late and asking very expensive questions. By the time FF&E enters the conversation, the space is planned, the budget is spoken for, and everyone is hoping the furniture will somehow make it all work. Sometimes it does. When it doesn’t, the fallout looks like rushed decisions, compromised design intent, and frustration. This masterclass is about prioritizing furniture planning early while there are still meaningful choices to make. We’ll explore how early furniture decisions shape budget, schedule and scope, and why better outcomes depend on having the right conversations sooner. Drawing from project examples and 25+ years of experience, we’ll look at how good furniture planning holds everything together. When it’s addressed early and with intention, it supports the full arc of a project, from strategy through activation. The result is fewer surprises, stronger outcomes, and projects that deliver as intended. Dianne Murata, Founding Principal, kimiko designs, delivers the masterclass.
If you are attending NeoCon in person, all seven exhibition floors of The Mart — 1, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11 and 14 — will be open. Show registration is free for all attendees. Keynotes will be delivered live on-site and will also be available for streaming on NeoCon.com. Programming registration is open for Keynotes, Featured Presentations, Continuing Education Units (CEUs), Workshops, NeoCon Talks, and Inside Design tours.
