May 29, 2006—The UK’s Building Research Establishment (BRE) launched the first annual BREEAM Awards as part of the 2006 BRE Annual Conference held recently. The four developments highlighted this year for their outstanding achievements in environmental design and management are:
- Bespoke BREEAM Winner: The Mills Building, Veterinary Laboratories Agency, Weybridge
- BREEAM Industrial Winner: Allerton Bywater Networkcentre, Leeds
- EcoHomes Winner: Debut at Willans Green, Rugby, Warwickshire
- BREEAM Offices Winner: Scottish Natural Heritage Headquarters, Westercraig, Inverness
BREEAM is the BRE’s Environmental Assessment Method for buildings. It assesses a variety of buildings against a range of environmental issues and gives a score depending on performance.
