UK companies weak on security, says study

June 5, 2002—Three-quarters of UK businesses believe they have sensitive or critical information, but only one-quarter currently have a security policy in force to protect it, according to a study carried out by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) on behalf of the UK Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). This sixth, biennial survey by PwC found that the average cost of each serious breach is 30,000, with some costing more than 500,000.
