June 9, 2004—The UK’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has launched a new, one-stop Business Link Web site. For the first time, an online service will provide free and easy access to government information, advice, funding, products, events, and training for the 3.8 million small- and medium-sized enterprises in the UK. The site will also help reduce the time that businesses spend on rules and regulations, freeing them to concentrate on their core business.
The site includes such innovative features as a service to allow businesses to register for e-filing with Customs and Excise, Inland Revenue, and Companies House all at once, as well as a filter to help users identify which licenses they need to trade.
Businesslink.gov.uk is continuously being updated in response to customer feedback and changes in the business environment. The site recently won the prestigious International Visual Communications Association Gold Award for best business Web site.
