February 28, 2003—The UKs Health and Safety Executive inspectors have warned construction employers, in particular, to be ready for surprise visits during March.
Blitzing businesses in specific areas of the country has been a recent strategy in the HSE’s ongoing campaign to raise safety standards and cut workplace deaths, injuries and ill-health. In March, the target is the East and South East of England.
Inspectors will be focusing on key areas, including site safety, plant and vehicles together with operators and drivers, and lifting equipment and procedures.
