June 17, 2002—A recent article in Premises & Facilities Management highlights a facilities management salary survey conducted by Hays Montrose, a UK recruitment company. The survey paints a positive picture for FMs who possess the right experience, “Salaries particularly at the level of Facilities Director were increasing rapidly influenced by the growth of PFI contracts for FM in major healthcare and education facilities”
The listed average salary for a Facilities Manager in 2002 was 31,700 as opposed to 30,700 in 2001.
The article also noted that the events of September 11, 2001 have had a mixed effect on the FM market, on the one hand triggering an economic downturn and on the other, making security and facilities management all that more important.
