UK security bill may cause confusion

The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has warned UK Facilities Managers that the Private Security Industry Bill will cause confusion when it becomes law in April 2001, according to a report in workplacelaw.net. Under the Bill, all security officers, managers, directors, and partners of contract manned security companies must have a security license, but in-house security guards are exempted. The BSIA warns that individuals unable to secure a license may look for in-house employment, and that one facility may employ licensed guards while another, similar facility employs unlicensed ones.
