March 9, 2005—Salaries for facilities managers in the UK have not leapt forward as they have in previous years, according to an article in Premises and Facilities Management magazine.
While salaries still remain competitive, there have not been widespread increases, reflecting a market that is maturing and where opportunities remain varied and multiple, the article says.
According to the article, the average salary for a facility director in 2005 is 55,700 pounds, compared to 56,600 in 2004. At the low end of the spectrum, a facilities assistant can expect to earn 19,900 on average in 2005, down from 20,500 in 2004.
The article notes that the figures do not always reflect incentive schemes being offered by employers. Previously, bonuses were reserved for higher-level managers, but that is no longer the case.
