Uniboard goes green with Nu Green urea-formaldehyde-free particleboard

May 18, 2007—Uniboard has introduced its first-ever green product, Nu Green, a raw particleboard that contains no urea-formaldehyde. Nu Green particleboard is certified as an Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP) by the Composite Panel Association (CPA). It contains 100 percent post-industrial wood fibers, protecting trees and avoiding waste disposal.

Because the manufacturing process for Nu Green raw particleboard requires no urea-formaldehyde, it produces emissions that do not exceed normal outdoor levels. Nu Green also helps professionals obtain LEED credits and points in ether of the two categories: Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ 4.4) and Materials and Resources (MR 4.1, 4.2, 5.1 and 5.2).

Nu Green is manufactured at Uniboard’s Canadian facility. It is composed mostly of spruce, pine, and fir, all recognized for their yield and light weight, and its low density give sit a major advantage, says Uniboard. In addition, Nu Green meets ANSI standards governing moisture-resistant glue.
