April 7, 2006—UNICCO Service Company, one of North America’s largest integrated facilities services outsourcing companies, has received a contract to provide custodial and contractor management services for six Commonwealth of Virginia buildings located in the Capitol Complex in downtown Richmond, the company says. The facilities house executive, legislative, judicial and administrative branches of government; buildings include the newly renovated Patrick Henry, the General Assembly, Supreme Court, and Pocahontas, as well as the James Monroe high rise building.
Under the contract, UNICCO will provide cleaning and day porter services for 1.5 million square feet of facility space. This also includes specialized cleaning services as required for buildings with historic finishes. This contract is a result of the Commonwealth restructuring its approach to providing maintenance, cleaning, and specialized cleaning services. It leverages the expertise and efficiencies of an integrated facilities company at a lower cost.
The company is introducing UNICCO GreenClean, which uses environmentally friendly chemicals, equipment and processes to provide a healthier indoor environment for building occupants and visitors, UNICCO says. UNICCO is also responsible for overseeing several contractors with expertise in historical architecture restoration, window washing, fire and flood remediation, and other specialty areas. The window washing partner supports the Commonwealths SWAM initiative as a Woman Owned Minority Business.
