UNICCO wins green-cleaning assignment for Mellon Financial Center

February 16, 2005—CB Richard Ellis-Whittier Partners (CBRE) has turned to UNICCO Service Company to provide green cleaning janitorial services for Mellon Financial Center at One Boston Place in Boston, Massachusetts. The green approach for the 800,000-square-foot. building is designed to help CBRE achieve LEED-EB (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design—Existing Buildings) certification for the facility.

UNICCO is implementing its GreenClean program at the site where it is performing janitorial, day porter, window washing and snow removal services. UNICCO, along with its cleaning product supplier, JohnsonDiversey, has retrained the staff and has transitioned to environmentally friendly cleaning chemicals and equipment.

In addition to the green cleaning techniques, UNICCO is implementing an advanced inspection system using its UNI-Q hand-held PDA inspection system. This will enable supervisors and CBRE to continuously track service levels in terms of both building cleanliness and environmental factors. UNICCO has further committed to ongoing staff training to help ensure continuous improvement.
