January 7, 2002—The Bostock Company has introduced an Interlocking Panel System that allows installation of attractive new elevator cab interiors quickly, reducing the time elevators need to be out of service. According to Bostock, elevator maintenance companies report one mechanic and helper team with no previous cab remodeling experience can complete the installation easily in one day. The panels interlock on top of each other and fasten directly to cab walls, minimizing loss of interior space. Panels come with a detailed installation video, and are removable for replacement or repair.
Bostock ILP panels are available in a number of materials: plastic laminate, wood veneer, stainless steel, solid surface and natural stone. Different finishes can be selected for each horizontal layer to achieve a customized look. Toe kicks, handrails, and pad hooks come pre-installed on panels. The system offers two ceiling choices: frame, which allows re-use of existing fluorescent fixtures; or down light ceiling, typically divided into six panels, each containing a halogen light.
