November 15, 2006—Cat Rental Power has updated the Caterpillar C-Series Wheel Excavators to boost performance, productivity, serviceability, and operator comfort and convenience.
Updates of the C-Series, M323C, M315C, M316C, M318C, M322C, include a new drive train for more useable speed and long life, says the company. Several changes enhance productivity: joystick steering in first gear, proportional medium-pressure hydraulics for work tool control, and adjustable hydraulic sensitivity for quickly adapting the machine to the task. New offset variable angle (VA) booms are available for working in tight areas, and new industrial sticks are available for material handling jobs.
For operator comfort, the auxiliary high-pressure circuit (AHC) can be locked in the off position to provide a footrest. A pattern changer now allows the operator to choose between backhoe loader and hydraulic excavator control patterns. A new, lockable storage compartment provides further operator convenience, and optional roading fenders improve high-speed travel.
Serviceability enhancements include a remote greasing block for easy lubricating of the front axe oscillation point. And the optional dozer blade now has a remote greasing block for all eight service points. An optional auto-lube system from the factory delivers grease to all points from the swing bearing on up.
For performance and durability, new drive train control systems for both the travel motor and transmission deliver smooth transmission shifting for increased drawbar pull during shifting and for smoother downhill travel. Optimized transmission shifting decreases travel time in hilly areas.
New offset VA booms are available for the M313C, M315C, and M316C. Such a boom provides a means for an excavator to dig along walls and over obstacles to grade parallel to the direction of machine travel.
