July 29, 2005 — Building Systems Design, Inc. (BSD) has released a new version of BSD SpecLink with expanded LEED features, the company says.
BSD SpecLink employs a unique database approach for producing building specifications. It includes modules for early phase performance specifications and design phase short form specifications, as well as detailed specifications for the construction documents phase, says BSD.
The PerSpective performance guide specifications included in BSD SpecLink reference the LEED Rating System document for environmentally responsible design criteria early in a project, before design work has commenced. For RFPs and early design documentation, PerSpective identifies which credits are required, which are desirable, and which are not required.
The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for rating and certification of the performance of buildings with regard to energy and water conservation, impact on the environment, indoor environmental quality, and conservation of resources. Members of the US Green Building Council representing all segments of the building industry developed the LEED Rating System and continue to contribute to its evolution.
