March 14, 2003—MGE UPS Systems has upgraded its Personal Solutions-Pac power management software with enhanced user-friendly features. MGE explains that the Windows XP-certified software is geared for small business users in need of an easy-to-use yet fully featured solution to complement the power protection provided by their MGE Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).
Now certified by Microsoft, Personal Solution-Pac can operate in Windows ME/2000/XP hibernate mode. When input power is interrupted, Solution-Pac will automatically save all open files in process and initiate hibernation—saving valuable data as well as an image of the desktop with all open files and documents. Once the power returns, Solution-Pac saves time by automatically rebooting the computer and opening all saved files and applications to where they were prior to shutting down.
Personal Solution-Pac now includes an intuitive screen that displays remaining battery backup time available. This real-time indicator works in conjunction with a power consumption sensor that detects how much of the UPS’s rated power is being used by connected equipment. This feature, explains MGE, lets the user know whether additional devices can be safely plugged into the UPS without overloading the system—a common problem.
Solution-Pac also includes an advanced Mode that provides additional controls for features such as customized shutdowns; system testing; battery level or time threshold adjustments; battery backup time optimization; and schedule automatic shutdowns of the PC and UPS for scheduled maintenance, energy savings, or security.
