Urbitran teams With Cernium to offer intelligent video security technology

October 8, 2003—The Security Services Division of Urbitran Group has teamed with Cernium, Inc., a provider of behavior-recognition software and systems for the security industry, to sell and install Cernium’s Perceptrak intelligent video surveillance systems. Urbitran will initially focus on serving the northeast United States, particularly New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and eastern Pennsylvania.

Cernium software systems use content analysis and behavior recognition to identify potentially dangerous or suspicious behaviors, events, or objects. An “alarm” is triggered only when user-defined events occur, which allows fewer people to monitor larger areas. Cernium systems are compact, rack-mounted units that provide easy and fast image retrieval and instant playback. Cernium integrates with any CCTV system, supports analog and digital cameras, and works onsite or remotely over LAN, or WAN.

According to David Gaier, VP and Director of Urbitran Security Services Division, “CCTV use is proliferating, yet most systems’ value is still undermined by the need to actively view far too many images. Cernium was our clear choice for client security work, because it draws attention only to situations that genuinely warrant attention.”
