August 29, 2007—The Xerox Corporation and NRG Energy, Inc., recently joined the United States Climate Action Partnership (USCAP), bringing total membership in the climate group to 31. The alliance of business and environmental leaders is calling on Congress to swiftly enact national economy-wide legislation to address the adverse impacts of climate change.
The new members add to the breadth and depth of the landmark coalition. Xerox, the document management technology and services company, operates on six continents and in 160 countries. NRG Energy owns and operates a diverse portfolio of power-generating facilities totaling approximately 24,000 megawatts—enough to support more than 20 million homes, notes USCAP. Both companies have a long history of commitment to environmental issues, adds USCAP.
The coalition now comprises 31 organizations, including many of the world’s largest corporations and most respected non-governmental organizations. USCAP members represent major sectors of the US economy—from energy and transportation, technology, financial services, and medicine to food and beverages—along with environmental and conservation leaders.
