USA Technologies and NAMA collaborate for energy conservation in vending machines

July 23, 2004—The National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA), and USA Technologies announced that more than 5,000 VendingMisers have already been sold under the Project Get Green program launched two months ago. Major bottling companies, independent vending machine operators and owners have registered in the program, including one of the biggest vending machine management companies in the United States.

We estimate that the VendingMisers purchased to date under the Project Get Green program are saving more than $750,000 in energy cost annually,” said Larry Eils, Technical Director, NAMA.

Project Get Green is a joint NAMA and USA Technologies initiative to communicate to the vending industry that USA Technologies’ VendingMiser energy management solution can help owners and operators achieve the equivalent of ENERGY STAR standards for energy usage. The program was launched following the EPA’s announcement of the new ENERGY STAR standards for refrigerated vending machines last April.

Over the past 12 months a growing list of Fortune 500 retailers have announced their intention to pursue policies of energy conservation in vending machines by installing USA Technologies’ energy management solutions.”

Meeting the new EPA standards may appear to be a daunting challenge for the vending industry, but solutions are already available, and Project Get Green is a positive first step,” said Stephen P. Herbert, President and COO, USA Technologies, Inc.
