October 29, 2004—The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), a federal government agency that influences nearly $66 billion in government spending, has agreed to a five-year contract with USA Technologies. The GSA contract enables all Federal Government authorities, agencies and facilities worldwide to immediately purchase USA Technologies’ VendingMiser, CoolerMiser, PlugMiser and SnackMiser directly from the company.
The executive order promoting VendingMiser is posted on the Energy Department’s Web site.
Companies are included on the GSA schedule after going through a laborious assessment to approve the company as a viable supplier to the Federal Government, the quality of its product(s), as well as its ability to provide service and support.
USA Technologies believes there are nearly one million vending machines in the Federal sector, and by equipping them with VendingMiser, the Government could save nearly $100 million on energy costs annually while reducing energy consumption by as much as 1.4 billion kWh annually. Further savings could be realized by implementation of USA’s full array of patented solutions for glass fronted coolers, kiosks, and IT equipment such as computer monitors, also included in the GSA contract.
The GSA organization consists of the Federal Supply Service, the Federal Technology Service, the Public Buildings Service, the Office of Government Policy, and various Staff Offices, including the Office of Small Business Utilization, the Office of Citizen Services and Communications, and the Office of Civil Rights.
