USGBC welcomes 10,000th member company

July 20, 2007—The US Green Building Council (USGBC) recently welcomed its 10,000th member company. According to Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO, & Founding Chair of USGBC, “This achievement is a significant milestone in the growth and development of the green building movement, because it demonstrates a broad conviction that our built environment can improve the health of our planet, our economy, and our communities.”

In an open letter on USGBC’s Web site, Fedrizzi continues, “It’s also a telling indicator of the reach and influence of the green building movement. Our members include corporations and non-profits, architecture and interior design firms, contractors and developers, financial institutions and healthcare institutions, trade and professional associations, federal agencies and state governments, school boards and universities from across the country. That this broad spectrum of interests has joined together through USGBC to transform the way we design, build, and operate the structures in which we live our lives gives us a powerful voice.”
