June 23, 2006—Vecta received two Gold Awards in the Best of NeoCon competition: One for the x-Stack in the Education Solutions category; the other for Permiso, in the Seating, Conference category.
The x-Stack chair, a Gold winner in the Education Solutions category, is described as soft, comfortable, durable, and, for user accommodation, “a place for your stuff.” The construction of the patent pending x-Stack seat shell co-molds flexible Thermoplastic Urethane (TPU) to glass-filled nylon, creating a soft comfort in a high performance stack chair. The TPU seat and back contact points offer comfort without the maintenance of upholstery and urethane foam. In addition, the industrial properties of TPU (found in skateboard wheels, watchbands, sport shoes, and even fire hoses) makes x-Stack durable and easy to clean in demanding environments.
Through a systems approach to accessories, x-Stack caters to the student, trainee, or dinner guest with a right- or left-handed tablet, a patent pending ambidextrous monopod (right mounted) for laptop use, and cup holder. The blend of soft comfort, durability, and user accommodation gives x-Stack relevance to many applications.
Winning a Gold in the Seating, Conference category, Permiso, says Vecta, best states the intent of the chair: permission to sit the way you want to sit. Permiso accommodates permissive posture through four unique features: (1) a folding arm option, (2) continuous back and arm, (3) recessed arms, and (4) a chair back ideal height for an armrest.
Two adjustment mechanisms further add the comfort of Permiso. The weight-activated Your Preference Control mechanism provides support in proportion to your body weight, and the Your Preference Control combining four comfort settings in one dial. Designed by IDEO, Permiso brings comfort to casual conference and informal teaming applications.
IDEO based the functional development of Permiso on behavior company officials documented in photography and video research. The most prominent realization: people constantly shift while seated. Most conference chairs do not naturally allow users to achieve their desired postures, says Vecta.
