September 13, 2002—VERSAR, INC. recently won the award of a technical support contract for Peer Review and Risk Assessment for the National Center for Environmental Assessment (NCEA) of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This five-year contract has a potential value of $4.8 million.
Under this contract, VERSAR will assist NCEA to improve the EPA’s ability to use risk assessment in decision making. Because of NCEA’s role in developing risk assessment tools and data for use by EPA’s risk assessors, peer review is critical to the success of NCEA efforts. It assures that scientific documents and data receive critical scrutiny before they are used by other EPA offices.
