VFA releases two new software products

March 10, 2006—VFA, Inc., the leading provider of software and services for facilities capital planning and asset management, has announced the release of version 7 of VFA.facility.

VFA.facility 7 includes enhancements designed to assist capital planners, facility managers and financial executives in expertly managing their capital assets and forecasting maintenance, renewal and capital spending requirements, the company says.

VFA also announced the availability of VFA.auditor, a new software product that guides non-expert personnel in collecting information about facility condition across a portfolio.

New features in VFA.facility focus on enabling expert capital planning with enhancements that simplify the budgeting process, support more flexible project planning, and increase ease-of-use. These features include:

  • Powerful cost model template libraries streamline the budgeting process
  • Built-in industry-standard cost and lifecycle data ensure accuracy and objectivity of system renewal projections
  • Lifecycle modeling capabilities allow organizations to define their optimal approach for estimating renewal costs and timelines
  • Enhanced planning capabilities let customers rapidly create and evaluate capital projects
  • Interface enhancements give planners greater control of their view into capital asset information

VFA.auditor assists organizations in collecting baseline data about facilities and systems. The Web-based software guides facility managers, maintenance personnel and others who may lack expertise in facility assessments to gather consistent and reliable information across a diverse portfolio. Data collected with VFA.auditor can be used to support development of portfolio-wide budget estimates and to identify areas requiring detailed assessment.

Key features and highlights include:

  • Form-based, standard question sets about major building systems
  • A glossary complete with photographs to support the collection of condition information
  • The ability to create customized questionnaires for collecting specialized data, for example, on ADA compliance, life and safety issues, or energy efficiency
  • The ability to set up workflows and assign approval rights based on role
  • Fully compatible with VFA.facility
