VFA selected by NOAA for its Web-based software to collect facilities information in centralized database

September 19, 2005—The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) selected VFA.facility, the Web-based software system by VFA, Inc., to collect reliable, accurate, and current facility condition information in a centralized database. NOAA will leverage the data to import and calculate the costs associated with the maintenance and upkeep of each building, regardless of its location, as well as to provide decision support needed during the capital planning process, according to VFA, a leading provider of facilities capital planning software and services.

Responsible for more than 800 buildings nationwide, NOAA required a method to gather reliable and irrefutable information on the current condition of each facility from the occupants. To accomplish this, NOAA is employing VFA’s customized Web-based questionnaire designed to enable staff, including oceanographers and scientists, to compile facilities-related information. The questionnaire module automatically interfaces with VFA.facility, delivering the solutions reporting and forecasting benefits to NOAA.

In addition, VFA’s software allows NOAA to integrate information from its other building software programs: Real Property Management, which specifies building locations, and WHAM, an internal program that manages environmental-related datafor increased accuracy and streamlined management of information. This capability provides NOAA the opportunity to better address environmental compliance issues and to ensure that the life-safety features of each building are well maintained.
