January 5, 2004—VFA recently announced that the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) is utilizing the company’s software and condition assessment services to gather and manage facilities information at five VADOC facilities, including the Virginia Correctional Center for Women, James River Correctional Center, Powhatan Correctional Center, Southampton Correctional Center, and Bland Correctional Center.
After a rigorously competitive review process, VFA was chosen by a committee comprised of representatives of the Virginia Secretaries of Finance and Public Safety, and the Departments of Corrections and General Services, based on the capabilities and competitive pricing of the company’s software, VFA.facility, as well as the extensive experience of VFA’s facilities consultants.
VFA’s software and assessment services will enable VADOC to prioritize projects, quantify budget recommendations, and provide a compelling argument for funds to the Virginia General Assembly. With accurate and defensible facilities data in hand, VADOC will be able to develop a capital improvement plan that details the conditions of the five facilities and the associated cost estimates for deferred maintenance, renovation, and/or replacement.
