VFA tapped by California to assess condition of state court facilities

September 20, 2006—VFA, Inc., the leading provider of end-to-end solutions for facilities capital planning and asset management, has announced that the Judicial Council of California Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) will be using VFA to assess the condition of state court facilities transferred to the AOC’s responsibility. The AOC will also employ VFA.facility capital planning and management software to manage information about court buildings and major building systems, and to develop short- and long-term plans for projecting needs of the entire portfolio.

California, which has the largest court system in the nation, is expected to transfer more than 450 court facilities from county to state stewardship under the governance of the Judicial Council. This unified, one-tier trial court system is designed to allow increased efficiency in court operations, enhance court safety and help ensure equal access to justice for all Californians. VFA will initially assess 38 court buildings to assist the AOC in understanding the condition of the transferred facilities. The AOC will employ VFA software to manage facility data and assist in the development of infrastructure improvement plans.

VFA has previously assessed court systems for the states of New York and Virginia, as well as Fulton County in Georgia.
