Australia’s Victorian Hospitals will be rated for cleanliness following random audits later this year. The announcement was made by Australia’s Health Minister John Thwaites as he launched the Cleaning Standards for Victorian Public Hospitals booklet at the Western Hospital late July, 2000. He also announced an additional $3 million to allow hospitals to employ more cleaners. Independent auditors will start random checks of hospitals, both in-house and outsourced services in November. A final report on each hospital’s overall rating will be published.
