October 13, 2004—The Viking Corporation, a manufacturer of fixed fire protection devices, introduces a new K-14 (20,2 metric) Extended Coverage, Ordinary Hazard (ECOH) Pendent Sprinkler. This sprinkler produces the flows required to meet Ordinary Hazard density requirements at lower pressures than 8.0 or 11.2 (11,5 or 16,1) K-factor sprinklers. Additionally, with its extended coverage capability, this sprinkler is ideal in large open-type occupancies, such as shopping malls or other retail structures.
The K-14 ECOH is UL and cUL Listed for coverage areas from 12′ x 12 (3,7m x 3,7m) through 20′ x 20′ (6,1m x 6,1m). It has one of the lowest profiles of similar products and, when fully recessed, the deflector is a mere 1-1/8″ from the ceiling. The minimum spacing for this sprinkler is 8 feet (2.5m), which makes laying out sprinklers easier and may result in fewer sprinklers required.
