September 15, 2004—Visteon Corporation’s Carplastic facility, located in Monterrey, Mexico, has received the Environmental Excellence Award from the Mexican Environmental Attorney’s Office (PROFEPA). The award was presented by Mexico President Vicente Fox.
The Carplastic facility was recognized because of its participation in several voluntary environmental audits that were conducted by PROFEPA, as well as for its numerous environmental initiatives that extend beyond federal legislation. For example, the facility is home to a wildlife habitat that protects various plant and animal species that are native to the region.
The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) certified this land as an official Wildlife Habitat in 2003.
A total of 67 facilities representing 18 different companies were candidates for the award, however, only 23 facilities were recognized as recipients of the 2003 Environmental Excellence Award in the country.
“In Visteon Carplastic we are committed toward making sustainable use of renewable natural resources, efficient use of non-renewable natural resources through eco-effective planning, and the employment of design for environment (DfE) disciplines,” said Torres.
