Whitbread Hotel Company is partnering with Nottingham Trent to build and manage a 158-bedroom Travel Inn on its city center campus. Whitbread is investing 6 million pounds to develop the new Travel Inn Metro on the Goldsmith Street site owned by the university. The University will share in the hotel’s revenue via a turnover lease. Work will begin January 2000. The thousands of post-graduate students attending short courses at the University will provide a ready market for the hotel. It should also pick up business from conference delegates, business travelers, tourists, and families visiting students. Whitbread is providing funds for a separate health and fitness center for students as well.
